Ordering
How do I start?
Send a photo, a sketch, a file, or just describe the problem through the form. You get a written quote inside 24 hours, Monday to Saturday, with the material named. Nothing prints until you approve the model.
What does a part cost?
Printing a supplied file starts at $30. Designing and printing a part starts at $75. Materials beyond PLA add 15 to 60 percent to the print price, and ten or more of one part takes 15 percent off. The full table is on the prices page, and the quote you get is the number you pay.
How long does it take?
A quote inside 24 hours. A supplied file is usually ready in 2 to 4 business days. A design-and-print job runs 3 to 7 business days, most of it in the modelling and your approval. Rush is available on both. A material that is ordered in for your job, anything other than PLA or black and white PETG, adds 3 to 5 business days, and the quote says so.
Is there a minimum order?
The minimum is $30. There is no minimum quantity: one part is fine, and so is a hundred.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Not on simple jobs; those are paid on pickup or delivery. Standard and Complex design work takes the design fee as a deposit before modelling starts. Standing business accounts move to net-15 monthly invoicing after the second order.
Design and accuracy
How is my part measured?
From the original with digital calipers and gauges when you can hand it over, or from your photo and numbers when you cannot. The dimensions that matter are listed on the quote and the missing ones are asked for before modelling starts. Where a fit is critical, a bore, a snap, a thread, a small test coupon is printed first and the model is tuned to the measured result.
Why Fusion and not a mesh sculpt?
Autodesk Fusion is parametric CAD. Every dimension in the model is a number, so a revision is a value change rather than a redraw, features stay true to size, and the STEP file can go straight to a machine shop or an injection moulder later. A sculpted mesh cannot do any of that.
How accurate is a printed part?
Models are built to 0.01 mm. Printed parts typically land within plus or minus 0.2 mm on features under 100 mm. Where the fit is critical, a bore, a snap, a thread, a test coupon is printed first and the model is tuned to the measured result. Every part is measured against the model before it leaves.
What if it does not fit?
If a design-and-print part does not fit the dimensions you gave, the next revision and its print are free. If the dimensions you gave were off, the revision is quoted at the Simple tier. The guarantee covers one free round.
Can I get the design file?
Yes. Every design job comes with the STL and 3MF. The STEP file or the native Fusion file is $25 more, and it is yours to take anywhere.
What helps a quote most?
The overall size, what the part attaches to, and a photo of the broken piece next to a tape measure. Say whether it lives outside, gets hot, gets wet, or takes a load; that decides the material.
Materials and quality
Which material should I choose?
Say what the part does and it is chosen for you. As a rule: PLA for indoor parts and prototypes, PETG for anything that gets wet or flexed, ASA for anything outside, TPU for anything rubbery, polycarbonate for parts that take a hit near heat, carbon-fibre nylon for parts that carry a load. The materials page breaks down every one.
Can you print something that lives in the sun, or near an engine?
Yes. ASA is UV-stable and good to about 95 degrees. Polycarbonate goes to about 110, and carbon-fibre nylon past 150. The printer is enclosed, which is what those materials need to print flat and strong. These are ordered in for your job, so allow 3 to 5 extra business days.
Can you print flexible parts?
Yes. TPU in 95A as standard, with 90A and 85A available for softer gaskets and grips.
What colours can I get?
PLA is stocked in every colour and PETG in black and white, so those print as soon as the model is approved. Black and white are the usual picks for functional parts. Any other material or colour is ordered in for your job and adds 3 to 5 business days. A colour change by filament swap at a chosen layer is $10, and two- to four-colour parts are possible with the material changer. Logos, text and colour-coded batches are the usual reasons.
How big can a part be?
256 mm in any direction in one piece. Larger parts are designed in sections with keys or bolts and joined here.
Are printed parts food-safe, or rated for load?
Not unless a written spec from Northpoint 3D says so for that specific part. Printed parts are replacements, prototypes and conveniences. Ask about the use and you will get a straight answer on whether printing is the right process for it.
Files, delivery and privacy
What file types do you accept?
STL, 3MF, STEP, OBJ and Fusion F3D. Files are checked for holes, flipped faces and thin walls before they are quoted, and a broken file gets a $20 repair or a design quote, which you hear about before you pay.
How do I get the part?
Pickup in Newmarket by appointment is free. Drop-off within 50 km of Newmarket is $8. Canada Post at cost anywhere in Canada.
What happens to my photos and files?
They are used to design and print your part and nothing else. They are never sold, shared, or printed for anyone else, and nothing you send appears on this site without your written say-so. Email and they are deleted within two business days.
Do you print copyrighted or trademarked designs?
Only for the rights holder. When you send a file you are confirming you have the right to print it.
